DISCIPLING THE NATION

Last July 14 to 16, Every Nation Leadership Institute (ENLI) conducted a Leader Lecture entitled, Discipling the Nation: Biblical Principles for the Marketplace, Arts and Media, and Government. Dr. Mark Beliles, founder of Providence Foundation, was the speaker for the event. The three-day seminar encouraged people with a vision to actively participate in fulfilling God’s purpose by applying biblical principles in their professions.
Dr. Beliles helped participants view their workplace through a biblical perspective and challenged them to make an impact in their respective fields. To business people, it was revealed that the marketplace is in fact God’s idea. Government leaders discovered how the Bible exemplifies God’s purpose for civil government. In the same way, those involved in the arts, media, and education were inspired to uphold biblical standards in their craft and profession as these areas play a crucial role in the development of man’s character and view of life.
With these key areas of society addressed, people who attended the seminar learned the specific roles that these fields played in bringing about God’s plan of blessing and prosperity for the nation. Dr. Beliles emphasized that when Jesus gave the mandate to make disciples of all nations, it was not just about praying for people and sharing the gospel. As Dr. Beliles pointed out, “Work is a primary way we can extend God’s kingdom on earth.”
Our role as His people is to honor God and make disciples wherever we are placed. That means going out into our communities and imparting the truth of God’s Word to the values and practices that form our society.
